The 2024 RSM Classic

Posted by EyePromise on Nov 26th 2024

The PGA Tour is winding down, and one of the last tournaments of this year’s competition is the RSM Classic. While it may be one of the lesser-known tournaments, it can have quite the impact, both in terms of golf standings and for the golf community.

The Tournament

With its inaugural tournament held in 2010, the RSM Classic is hosted by famed golfer Davis Love III. As a FedEx Cup event, the golfers compete for critical points awarded throughout the year-long competition. The tournament is typically held at the Sea Island Resort on the Plantation Course. The course was recently renovated by Love and his brother Mark and has been referred to as “a course you’ll want to play again and again.” This event can be a pivotal moment for the golfers, but it contributes more than just points.

The Charity

The RSM Classic helps to raise funds for the Davis Love Foundation, a charitable organization founded by none other than Davis Love III. Headquartered in St. Simons Island, GA, the foundation has a bold mission to “help build a better future for children and their families who are at risk of poor educational, economic, social and health outcomes.” In its first 12 years, the RSM Classic raised over $40 million for the foundation to provide services for children and families in need.

This Year’s Competition

The 2024 RSM Classic was nothing short of exciting! One hundred and fifty-six golfers started the competition early Thursday morning in hopes of earning their cut of $8 million. The tournament heated up quickly, but in the end, Maverick McNealy sank a birdie putt on the 72nd hole to claim the trophy and the $1,440,000winner’s share.

With this finish, the FedEx Cup standings are solidified! We can’t wait to see what else 2024 PGA Tour has in store!
