The Ascension Charity Classic 2023
Posted by EyePromise on Aug 23rd 2023
As EyePromise® continues to work with and for the golf industry, we’re excited to announce that we will once again be attending the Ascension Charity Classic this year! This tournament is hosted in our hometown of St. Louis, MO, at the prestigious Norwood Hills Country Club. Here are the details you should know for the 2023 competition.
What Is the Ascension Charity Classic?
The Ascension Charity Classic has become a well-attended stop on the PGA TOUR Champions. In its official third year (although the tournament was to have its inaugural year in 2020 but was postponed due to the pandemic), the Ascension Charity Classic looks to raise additional funds for North St. Louis County charities. The three primary beneficiaries of the Classic include:
In its first year, the tournament raised over $800K, including raising $225K in 2020 despite the COVID-19 pandemic. Last year, the events raised over $1.3 million for local charities, bringing the total to over $2 million. Officials hope to keep on trend and raise even more this year for those in need.
Tournament Details
The Ascension Charity Classic takes place September 5th through the 10th, with the PGA TOUR Champions tournament beginning Friday, September 7th. Thursday’s festivities revolve around the Official Pro-Am, and Saturday continues the PGA portion of the tournament. Saturday also hosts the Legends Charity Challenge, which is a 9-hole team scramble for charity. This competition begins on the No. 10 Tee. Finally, Sunday wraps up the tournament with the final competition round and the trophy presentation following play.
Participants
EyePromise ambassador Colin Montgomerie has participated in the Ascension Charity Classic since its inception, and this year is no different. Montgomerie will be back in St. Louis in a few weeks, and he’ll make an appearance at the EyePromise tent during the tournament. There will also be an exclusive interview with Colin by Jay Delsing, former professional golfer and host of the radio show Golf with Jay Delsing, so keep an eye out for more details. We’re excited to watch him compete!
Another EyePromise ambassador, Padraig Harrington, just earned his chance to compete last year and ended up winning the whole thing! This year, his schedule had a conflict, so Harrington will not be defending his Ascension Charity Classic title. Best of luck to him as he competes in his home country of Ireland!
It’s an exciting time to be a golf fan in St. Louis! If you haven’t already, make sure you get tickets to this incredible event. While you’re there, come find EyePromise between the 17th and 18th holes and learn why Colin and Padraig take EyePromise Vizual Edge™ Pro to stay sharp on the course.
