A Simplified Protocol for Macular Health
Posted by EyePromise on Mar 28th 2025
Macular health is critical for lasting vision, but it can be a complex topic if you’re not sure where to start. As a true practice partner, we want to ensure you’re prepared to tackle patient needs surrounding macular health. We’ve developed this simplified protocol to help guide your practice and ensure none of your patients fall through the cracks.
Assess
First, you need to know where your patients are starting in terms of macular health. To get a baseline understanding, you’ll need to assess macular pigment optical density (MPOD) with the Zx Pro™. The Zx Pro directly measures MPOD in the eye with trusted technology for reliable and repeatable data you can act on.

Mitigate
If your patient has a family history or other risk factors for age-related eye health issues, you’ll need to mitigate that EyePromise® Restore. Crafted by experts to include ingredients demonstrated to interfere with the development of age-related eye health issues, Restore is everything your patients who are at-risk or have early signs of concern need.
Manage
If your patient has moved past the “risk” phase and is living with age-related eye health issues, you’ll want to manage the state of their eye health with the EyePromise Macular Health duo. These elevated AREDS 2-based formulas with additional clinically proven ingredients to support aging eyes, maintain or improve status of age-related eye health issues, and improve visual performance. With options for a full multivitamin or basic zinc-free version, you can customize your patients’ care based on their needs.

Enhance
For those patients who test optimally, test below optimal with no existing risk factors, or have visual performance complaints, you can enhance their macular health with EyePromise Zeaxanthin + Lutein. This formula is simplified to include just the critical dietary carotenoids found in the macula. Delivered in a veggie softgel, Zeaxanthin + Lutein is also safe for vegetarians and vegans.
