The Patient Check-In: COVID-19 Edition

Posted by amess on Oct 29th 2020

As things begin to return to “normal” after the COVID-19 outbreak began in March of this year, your patients who were initially too scared to come in may be coming around to the idea. However, they’re still concerned about their health and insist on maintaining a safe social distance. How can this be achieved in your office? The Review of Optometric Business (ROB) shared an article with a handy solution for practitioners and patients.

Parking Lot Check In

ROB shared a link to a new practice program that helps ODs and other healthcare professionals maintain safe social distances. Parking Lot Check In was a program started by a med student and her father to create a safer way for patients to wait for healthcare. This program allowed patients to check in online through the practice website, and a confirmation is sent to the patient and the office. The front desk/whomever is responsible for this program then confirms the patient’s check-in with a text or email notification.

Once the practice is ready for the patient, they can send yet another text or email to the patient to let them know, and the appointment can begin. Throughout the journey, the practice can track where the patient is within their appointment (in the parking lot, in office, visit complete). When the appointment is over, the office has the option to send a “thank you” email or text to the patient.

Parking Lot Check In is a program that allows the patient check in process to be done from their car.

How Can EyePromise Help With Social Distancing?

You might be thinking, “This is all great info, but what does this have to do with vitamins?” EyePromise is more than vitamins. We’re a true practice partner, looking to support operations in any way we can. That said, EyePromise offers in-practice marketing support in digital form. This means that while your patients are waiting in their cars, you can share information on eye health, nutrition, and supplementation. Additionally, our pre-appointment forms are also available digitally, increasing both staff and patient safety and ensuring your office still gets the information it needs.

But what if the patient needs vitamins? That’s where the Auto Refill Program comes in.

EyePromise Auto Refill Program

The EyePromise Auto Refill Program (ARP) is designed to simplify the in-practice ordering process, as well as the patient’s reordering process. This program automatically ships the patient’s recommended vitamin directly to their home in 3-month shipments. If your patient is hesitant to take product from the office, you can sign them up for shipments, and their first delivery will arrive in 3-5 business days. However, there’s always the option to delay shipment if the patient decides to take bottles while in the office.

Additionally, patients enrolled in ARP tend to stay on the product longer and see better results. This program takes less than 5 minutes to set up and less than 2 minutes to enroll patients, so it’s an easy addition to your staff’s day-to-day operations. When enrolled in-practice, patients receive:

  • A free bottle in their first shipment
  • A discount on every bottle shipped
  • Free shipping
  • The ability to pause, delay, or cancel at any time through EyePromise
